Our asbestos training courses are designed to ensure your teams understand the risks, meet their legal obligations and are equipped to work safely in environments where asbestos may be present.

  • Face Fit Testing

    Course duration: The duration depends on the number of tests required.

    Face Fit Testing ensures that respiratory protective equipment provides an effective seal, helping to keep workers safe in environments where they may be exposed to hazardous substances.

    Who is this course suitable for?

    Face Fit Testing is available for individuals who wear FFP1, FFP3 and half-mask respirators.

    What does this course cover?

    The testing process includes a sensitivity check; fitting and adjusting the mask; and undertaking a test comprising 7 tasks that prove the seal of the mask to the face, representing movements and actions typically found during working activities.

  • Non-Licensable Courses

    UKATA Approved (Cat B) Non-Licensable Works

    Course duration: 1 day for the Non-Licensed Operative course (from £160pp exc. VAT). ½ day for the Non-Licensed Operative Refresher (from £100pp exc. VAT). If you have not undertaken any asbestos awareness training before this course, the duration is 1½ days. If you hold a current UKATA-certificated asbestos awareness qualification (within 6 months), the course duration is 1 day.

    This course is designed to educate participants on the practical elements of working with asbestos, as well as the asbestos awareness element. The objective is to provide delegates with the theoretical and practical skills to undertake non-licensable work.

    Who is this course suitable for?

    As set out by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, this course should be given to workers who knowingly disturb low-risk asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). It is suitable for those working in construction, demolition, maintenance, and trades including electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters/decorators, joiners, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, fire/burglar alarm installers, computer installers, architects, building surveyors, and shopfitters.

    What does this course cover?

    The course covers asbestos awareness (if not UKATA certified within the last 6 months); what work can and cannot be done; Notifiable Non-Licensed Work (NNLW); risk assessment and plan of work; emergency procedures; use of a Class H vacuum and wetting controls; control measures and removal methods; selection and use of correct PPE and RPE; decontamination procedures; correct waste handling, carriage and disposal on site; and practical training including the building of a mini enclosure.

    Additional course information

    The course can be tailored to take into consideration the type of work being undertaken by a company or individual. It is held at the Norwich-based training facility. The maximum number of attendees per session is 15.

  • Asbestos Awareness Course

    UKATA Approved (Cat A)

    Course duration: ½ day

    From £70pp (exc. VAT)

    This Asbestos Awareness course aims to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos and the practical steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of exposure. The main objective is to provide awareness and develop knowledge with regards to the hazards and risks posed by asbestos containing materials (ACMs), and gives an overview of the legislative measures in place to permit employees to safeguard themselves and others.

    Who is this course suitable for?

    The course is suitable for those with zero knowledge of asbestos seeking an initial course, or those looking for a refresher. It is relevant to those working in construction, demolition, maintenance, and trades including electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters/decorators, joiners, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, fire/burglar alarm installers, computer installers, architects, building surveyors, and shopfitters.

    What does this course cover?

    The course covers the main properties, types and risks of different types of asbestos; health effects of asbestos exposure; uses and likely occurrence of asbestos; asbestos-containing materials in buildings; general emergency procedures to deal with accidental exposure; relevant legislation including the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, ACOPs and HSG; and a question and answer session.

    Additional course information

    The course can be held at the Norwich-based training facility or at your premises. The maximum number of attendees per session is 15. Please note this course is designed to educate attendees about asbestos and will not educate or inform them on how to carry out any work with asbestos.
