This Asbestos Awareness course aims to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos and the practical steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of exposure. The main objective is to provide awareness and develop knowledge with regards to the hazards and risks posed by asbestos containing materials (ACMs), and gives an overview of the legislative measures in place to permit employees to safeguard themselves and others.
Who is this course suitable for?
The course is suitable for those with zero knowledge of asbestos seeking an initial course, or those looking for a refresher. It is relevant to those working in construction, demolition, maintenance, and trades including electricians, plumbers, gas fitters, painters/decorators, joiners, plasterers, roofers, heating and ventilation engineers, telecommunication engineers, fire/burglar alarm installers, computer installers, architects, building surveyors, and shopfitters.
What does this course cover?
The course covers the main properties, types and risks of different types of asbestos; health effects of asbestos exposure; uses and likely occurrence of asbestos; asbestos-containing materials in buildings; general emergency procedures to deal with accidental exposure; relevant legislation including the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, ACOPs and HSG; and a question and answer session.
Additional course information
The course can be held at the Norwich-based training facility or at your premises. The maximum number of attendees per session is 15. Please note this course is designed to educate attendees about asbestos and will not educate or inform them on how to carry out any work with asbestos.
